A reptile called a Plumed Crested Basilisk runs across a man-made pond built by art teacher and photographer, Brian Bevan, set up a laser system to capture the creature in full swing. Basilisks are also known as the Jesus Christ lizard for their ability to walk on water. They manage this by running very fast and generating enough force with their feet to keep their bodies both upright and above the surface. Their long fringed toes increase surface area and when startled they can run at speeds of up to five metres per second.Picture: BRIAN BEVAN / ARDEA / CATERS NEWS
